Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Educator to join our team at InsideHigherEd. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and suitability of our cosmetic science laboratory environments, supporting the development and implementation of our curriculum, and teaching laboratory courses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administrative Duties
    • Manage laboratory records, schedules, and inventories.
    • Assist faculty in selecting students for industry-based competitions and internships.
    • Participate in departmental meetings and engage in professional development.
    • Prepare correspondence and memoranda detailing laboratory services.
    • Coordinate laboratory upgrades and maintenance.
  • Laboratory Management, Safety and Compliance
    • Maintain and organize laboratory equipment and supplies.
    • Assess and recommend technology needs for the laboratory.
    • Inventory and upgrade laboratory equipment and computers.
    • Identify and order materials and supplies necessary for instructional labs.
  • Support for Instruction and Learning
    • Teach laboratory courses and grade student assignments.
    • Oversee industry-based competitions and coordinate laboratory activities.
    • Supervise student workers and laboratory assistants.
    • Assist with designing new lab activities and experiments.
Requirements
  • A master's degree in cosmetic science, formulation chemistry, or a closely related field.
  • Three years of experience in a cosmetic science laboratory or a similar chemistry lab-based environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in utilizing laboratory instrumentation and knowledge of chemical handling.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A Ph.D. in cosmetic chemistry or a closely related field.
  • Experience in teaching laboratories and supervising students.
