Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technician to join our team supporting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, GA. The successful candidate will provide laboratory expertise in processing specimens for HIV diagnostics and record/report test results in the approved CLIA format.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the coordination of CLIA process improvements and implement efficient workflows to minimize delays in reporting results.
  • Conduct HIV diagnostic tests on all specimens received from various projects and ensure accurate and properly formatted test results.
  • Test specimens using serological assays, including ELISA, Rapid Tests, and Western Blots, and maintain a database containing accurate and properly formatted test results.
  • Report test results to physicians, epidemiologists, and state health department laboratories in accordance with CLIA regulations.
  • Develop lab and data comparison procedures and prepare/maintain related documentation.
  • Manage sample and reagent inventory, including routine inventory counts, proper managing of expiring supplies, and assisting with reagent lot to lot verifications.
  • Follow all established laboratory safety protocols, including managing accumulated waste via the designated waste disposal system.
  • Collaborate with research labs to conduct testing on HIV samples and assist with the development of Lab-Developed Tests.
  • Assist with routine equipment maintenance and calibration verification procedures per CLIA and QMML guidelines.
Qualifications
  • 2-year experience with Laboratory specimen processing.
  • 1-year experience with Laboratory Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Knowledge of HIV specimen.
  • Bachelor's degree in Laboratory Science or related field.
  • Master's degree in Laboratory Science or related field.
  • Detail-oriented and able to create meticulous documentation of variables, datasets, and data attributes with a commitment to generating accurate data and products.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
