This position outlines the primary responsibilities associated with the role of HVAC Fabrication Shop Supervisor. Key Responsibilities

This role involves a variety of mechanical maintenance activities across multiple trades, with a primary focus on the installation and servicing of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. The supervisor will oversee equipment installation and repair, HVAC troubleshooting, electrical installations, refrigeration diagnostics, and other mechanical duties as assigned.

  • Lead a team of 7-10 staff members, fostering a motivating environment, contributing to performance evaluations, and conducting comprehensive performance assessments.
  • Fabricate ductwork by hand or with tools such as plasma machines and hydraulic shears, ensuring precision in layout, cutting, shaping, and assembly.
  • Utilize various methods to fasten metal components, including welding, riveting, and caulking.
  • Plan and supervise both skilled and unskilled labor, ensuring tasks are completed on schedule while regularly inspecting work progress.
  • Provide management with daily updates through detailed reports and meetings, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed accurately and promptly.
  • Maintain HVAC equipment, troubleshoot control systems, and recommend repairs or replacements as needed. Respond to emergencies and coordinate with contractors when necessary.
  • Work with external HVAC contractors for warranty and service requirements, and deliver training to staff on system operations.
  • Manage equipment and shop maintenance, oversee inventory and supply requests, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Engage in additional responsibilities as assigned by management and actively participate in departmental meetings and company events.
Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • 5-7 years of experience in duct fabrication with a strong foundation in layout, cutting, shaping, and assembly.
  • A minimum of 1 year in a supervisory role, demonstrating effective leadership and team management.
  • OSHA Certification to guarantee adherence to safety regulations.
  • Self-motivated individual capable of working independently with minimal oversight.
Supervisory Duties

This role includes management responsibilities for all department employees, focusing on performance management and team development.

Work Environment

This position requires physical activity, including heavy lifting and constant movement.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform tasks while standing, sitting, or walking.
  • Effective communication skills, utilizing speech, vision, and hearing.
  • Proficient use of hands for both simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Capability to bend, squat, crawl, climb, and reach.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull weights up to 75 pounds.
  • Exposure to moving machinery, temperature fluctuations, and dust, fumes, and gases.
  • Driving and operating equipment as necessary.
Position Type and Work Hours

This is a full-time role requiring flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
