Freelance Production Fabric Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Freelance Production Fabric Manager to join our team at Solomon Page. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for driving newness and innovation in fabric development and sourcing.
Key Responsibilities:- Fabric R&D Process: Lead the research and development process to translate the brand aesthetic into clear, executable direction for vendors and mills.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Design, Production, and Merchandising teams to meet aesthetics, timing, costing, and testing parameters related to fabrics.
- Fabric Sourcing: Attend fabric shows and/or shop competitive/aspirational brands to gain perspective on new innovation and trends as they apply to the brand.
- Seasonal Fabric Development: Work with mills and overseas vendors on seasonal fabric development.
- Troubleshooting: Work with the Senior Manager on troubleshooting fabric-related issues.
- Fabric Review: Meet with Design and Production on a weekly basis to review fabric submissions and development issues.
- Material Records: Create and maintain material records in PLM and upload necessary documentation (FDS, testing, scope certificates, etc).
- Fabric Testing: Facilitate testing of all fabrics prior to bulk orders and review test failures with QA as needed.
- Fabric Archive: Build and maintain an archive of approved and used fabrics from previous seasons.
- Fabric Receipt: Manage the receipt of new fabrics and present them to Design for review.
- Fabric Library: Maintain the fabric library to ensure all fabrics are brand and price appropriate.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in textile engineering or comparable degree/education.
- Experience: 6+ years' experience working in fabric development, textiles, or a related field.
- Fabric Knowledge: Keen eye for fabric trends and a passion for fabric technology.
- Technical Skills: Technical knowledge of yarns, fabrics, dyeing, printing, and finishing processes as it relates to woven fabrics.
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in PLM, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and Google apps (Google Sheets, Google Slides, etc.).
- Managerial Experience: Prior managerial experience preferred.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Collaboration: Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team.
- Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
- Attention to Detail: Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting.
