Position Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled GIS Analyst to support the Sustainable Range Program at Fort Irwin. The selected candidate will be instrumental in the creation, analysis, management, and dissemination of standardized geospatial data and services to enhance range modernization and operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop geospatial data in accordance with established Quality Assurance Plans.
  • Collaborate with military and civilian personnel to create and manage GIS data.
  • Conduct field data collection and GIS program management.
  • Produce maps and web-based geospatial products for various stakeholders.
  • Provide GIS training and support for custom exercises.

Quality Control: Perform initial Quality Control (QC) on all acquired data and geospatial representations, documenting any unresolved QC issues through required metadata and progress reports.

Data Management: Identify and acquire data from various sources, ensuring conversion into well-documented geospatial files. Maintain standard metadata for each dataset in compliance with established standards.

Reporting: Prepare and submit regular status reports to management and stakeholders, ensuring transparency and effective communication.

Collaboration: Work closely with an interdisciplinary team to understand installation needs and programmatic requirements, contributing to mission sustainability.

Technical Skills Required:

  • Proficiency in ESRI's ArcGIS software, including ArcGIS Pro.
  • Experience with raster and vector datasets, capable of performing spatial analysis.
  • Familiarity with SQL in a relational database context.
  • Knowledge of GPS hardware and software for mapping purposes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in GIS.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in GIS, Geography, or a related field, with relevant certifications.
  • Experience with government contracts and task orders is preferred.

This position may require occasional travel.

Compensation: The base salary for this role ranges from $67,000 to $73,000, commensurate with experience.
