In this position, you will promote and underwrite Sentry's offerings to selected independent agents and brokers within a designated area.

Key Responsibilities

As a Territory Underwriting Specialist, you will cultivate and maintain relationships with agents and brokers. The ideal candidate will operate remotely while residing in the North Texas region, collaborating closely with our South Central Regional Office.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying and soliciting accounts through select agents and brokers.
  • Assessing, underwriting, and pricing potential accounts for independent agents.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for assigned agents and brokers.
  • Providing extensive sales expertise to enhance production through agency channels.
  • Collaborating with agents and brokers to resolve issues effectively.

Additionally, you will:

  • Seek accounts through appointed commercial lines independent agents or in response to inquiries from potential clients.
  • Analyze the quality and quantity of risks underwritten while managing a portfolio of business within your authority levels.
  • Evaluate prospective accounts and independent agencies to determine their acceptability, working closely with management and other departments.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with assigned accounts and agencies, ensuring seamless service delivery.
  • Foster relationships with independent agencies to drive production and assist in setting premium goals.
  • Promote Sentry's products and services to both existing and prospective clients.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of multi-line middle market underwriting experience, particularly in construction, manufacturing, wholesale, real estate, and service sectors.
  • Familiarity with the Dallas/Fort Worth market and preferably established relationships with larger independent agents.
  • Prior technical insurance experience, ideally with a sales focus.
  • Experience in underwriting large, complex accounts.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Strong skills in business and pipeline development.
  • Willingness to travel for business development and client meetings.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
