Job Overview

Objective of the Position

The role involves utilizing established methodologies and techniques across electronic, mechanical, and various technical fields to support ongoing engineering, manufacturing, and related technical initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

The following outlines the primary duties associated with this position. Additional tasks may be assigned by the program manager as necessary and will align with the responsibilities of this role.

  • Conduct inspections, tests, adjustments, and certifications of moderately complex assemblies, subassemblies, components, and systems to ensure adherence to specifications and quality assurance standards, utilizing blueprints, schematics, and inspection manuals alongside hand tools and precision testing instruments.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions in moderately complex equipment, providing support through various communication methods, including telephone and in-person visits. Execute repairs by adjusting, calibrating, aligning, or modifying circuitry and components with hand and power tools.
  • Establish standard testing setups and circuitry to perform functional, operational, environmental, and life testing. Implement field changes to equipment. Assemble and/or modify wiring, insulation, and components using hand and power tools. Install assemblies and hardware into enclosures.
  • Review and refine technical documentation and manuals, creating and updating charts, graphs, and schematics to effectively illustrate system operating characteristics.
  • Coordinate the logistics for the shipment of parts, equipment, and materials to various operational sites.
  • Perform soldering tasks on components and sub-assemblies.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.
  • Be prepared for shift work and potential overtime as required.

Position Requirements

  • Strong communication skills, proficiency in systems troubleshooting, fault isolation, and the ability to interpret and follow technical documentation, including drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in electronic systems repair.
  • An Associate's Degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field, or equivalent professional experience totaling 3 years.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Familiarity with electrical, mechanical, and optical assemblies.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Experience with tools and soldering techniques.
  • Background in electro-optic avionics repair.
  • Capability to manage and coordinate multiple projects with tight deadlines.

Work Environment

  • Standard laboratory setting.
  • Potential exposure to hazardous materials, high noise levels, and laser energy.
  • Essential physical activities include standing, sitting, stooping, and typing.
  • Physical demands may include lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds.
