Job Summary

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) is a vital member of our care team, responsible for providing high-quality patient care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As an LVN, you will work closely with our team to ensure the health and safety needs of our residents are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer medications to individuals and verify the five rights for accuracy
  • Attend residents' doctor appointments and address any concerns or changes with the attending physician
  • Assist individuals with activities of daily living, such as bathing, grooming, and preparing meals
  • Assess residents' and participants' wounds, help with dressing changes, and breathing treatments as needed
  • Audit all medications during a new medication cycle and verify the five rights for accuracy
  • Perform g-tube insertions for feeding individuals
  • Perform colostomy care for individuals
  • Perform intramuscular injections
  • Perform diabetes insulin medication injections for individuals
  • Evaluate residents' and participants' level of consciousness, neurological factors, and responsiveness post-seizure or traumatic episodes
  • Redirect in the event of a behavioral episode and continue to support and listen to individuals' needs
  • Complete and update client notes system on a daily basis, observing and reporting any unusual behaviors or injuries
  • Assess and identify signs and symptoms of infections (early and late signs)
  • Perform basic physical reviews, checking for vital signs and conducting head-to-toe assessments
  • Participate in community outing events with individuals, such as hiking, beach trips, and other leisure activities
Requirements
  • 1 year of experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities
  • Licensed Vocational Nurse License (required)
  • First Aid/CPR and CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have a California Driver's License
  • Candidate must successfully pass all pre-employment requirements, including a background check
