About the Position:

We are looking for a dynamic and adaptable Accountant to join our team and assist the small nonprofit organizations we support. This role is crucial in aiding organizations whose mission is to serve their local communities.

We seek individuals who are passionate about the nonprofit sector or are eager to transition into this field. Regardless of your current knowledge, if you have a genuine desire to support nonprofit organizations, we will provide comprehensive training on the intricacies of mission-driven entities.

As the Nonprofit Accountant, you will collaborate daily with a Controller and CFO to provide accounting services to a diverse array of nonprofit clients.

More about the Nonprofit Accountant position:

Wearing multiple hats and embracing a variety of challenges are fundamental aspects of the Nonprofit Accountant role. Your specific duties will include:

  • Managing and nurturing client relationships.
  • Delivering exceptional service; this role requires both analytical thinking and practical execution - you will be creating journal entries for the general ledger while also developing bookkeeping policies and procedures.
  • Collaborating with the internal team to adjust client engagements and ensure enduring partnerships with our nonprofit clients.
  • Becoming a subject matter expert in QuickBooks and using your expertise to identify issues and propose improvement opportunities for clients.

Key Responsibilities of the Nonprofit Accountant:

  • Establishing and maintaining a chart of accounts for accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Recording cash receipts and managing bank deposits.
  • Conducting monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and all balance sheet accounts to ensure precision.
  • Preparing and issuing client invoices while reviewing accounts receivable to oversee the collections process.
  • Making necessary month-end closing entries.
  • Preparing and delivering monthly financial statements and additional schedules as requested by clients.
  • Maintaining the annual budget, calculating variances, and reporting significant issues to clients.
  • Processing client payroll and ensuring accurate entries in the general ledger.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in an accounting role or a related field.
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn QuickBooks Desktop/Online.
  • Understanding of nonprofit accounting principles.

Salary: $60,000 - $75,000
