About the Position:

We are looking for a dynamic and adaptable Accountant to join our team and assist the small nonprofit organizations we support. This role is crucial in aiding organizations that are committed to serving their local communities.

We seek individuals who are passionate about nonprofit work or are interested in transitioning into the nonprofit sector. Regardless of your current knowledge, if you have a desire to support nonprofit organizations, we will provide comprehensive training on the nuances of mission-driven entities.

As a Nonprofit Accountant, you will collaborate daily with a Controller and CFO to provide accounting services to a diverse array of nonprofit clients.

Key Responsibilities of the Nonprofit Accountant:

  • Manage and cultivate relationships with your clients.
  • Deliver exceptional service; this role requires both analytical thinking and practical execution - you will create journal entries to adjust the general ledger while also defining bookkeeping policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the internal team to adjust client engagements and ensure long-term partnerships with our nonprofit clients.
  • Become a subject matter expert in QuickBooks and leverage your expertise to identify issues and propose improvement opportunities for clients.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Establish and maintain a chart of accounts for accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Record cash receipts and manage bank deposits.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and all balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Prepare and issue client invoices and oversee accounts receivable to manage the collections process.
  • Make necessary month-end closing entries.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly financial statements and other reports as requested by clients.
  • Maintain annual budgets, calculate variances, and report significant issues to clients.
  • Process client payroll and ensure accurate entries in the general ledger.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in an accounting role or a related field.
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn QuickBooks Desktop/Online.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles.

Salary: $60,000 - $75,000
