More about the Nonprofit Accountant Role:
Wearing multiple hats and embracing a variety of challenges are fundamental aspects of the Nonprofit Accountant position.
Your Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Cultivating and managing client relationships.
- Delivering exceptional service; this role requires both analytical and practical skills as you will be creating journal entries and establishing bookkeeping policies.
- Collaborating with the internal team to adjust client engagements and ensure long-term partnerships with our clients.
- Becoming a subject matter expert in QuickBooks and leveraging your expertise to identify issues and propose improvement opportunities for clients.
The Specifics of the Nonprofit Accountant Role:
- Establishing and maintaining a chart of accounts for accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Recording cash receipts and processing bank deposits.
- Conducting monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and all balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Preparing and issuing client invoices and managing accounts receivable to oversee the collections process.
- Making necessary month-end closing entries.
- Preparing and delivering monthly financial statements and other reports as requested by clients.
- Maintaining the annual budget, calculating variances, and reporting significant issues to clients.
- Processing client payroll and ensuring accurate entries in the general ledger.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in an accounting role or related field.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn QuickBooks Desktop/Online.
- Knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles.

$60,000 - $75,000
