Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join our team at Higheredmilitary. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and executing our environmental health and safety (EH&S) management programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and promoting a safe and healthy work environment for our employees, students, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain EH&S programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards and risks.
  • Provide training and education to employees, students, and contractors on EH&S policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with departments and external agencies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain documentation and records related to EH&S programs, including permits, licenses, inspection records, and training records.
  • Chair the College Safety Committee and work with the Director of Public Safety, the Director of Facilities, and the Associate Vice President for Auxiliary and Business Services to identify and address safety concerns.
  • Represent the University in interactions with regulatory agencies, including OSHA, EPA, and Massachusetts DEP.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, industrial engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in environmental health and safety program management, preferably in an institution of higher learning or similar location.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students, and regulators.
  • Experience executing EH&S compliance programs and working with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Excellent training and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort in using technology systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to analyze situations and adopt quick, effective, and reasonable courses of action with due regard to surrounding hazards and circumstances.
