Summary

The Environmental Health and Safety Manager will oversee the implementation and management of comprehensive environmental health and safety (EH&S) programs. This position is pivotal in collaborating with various departments and external contractors to foster a safe working environment and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local EH&S regulations while minimizing institutional risk.
  2. Assist personnel in understanding EH&S policies and procedures, conducting inspections, and implementing corrective actions.
  3. Develop and deliver training programs for staff and students on safety protocols and compliance measures.
  4. Manage safety concerns related to construction and renovation projects, including indoor air quality assessments.
  5. Implement and evaluate various EH&S programs, ensuring they meet institutional and regulatory standards.
  6. Maintain accurate documentation related to EH&S activities, including permits, inspection records, and training logs.
  7. Chair the Safety Committee, collaborating with key stakeholders to address safety issues and develop policies.
  8. Work with academic and administrative departments to assess and mitigate EH&S risks.
  9. Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies, coordinating inspections and ensuring compliance with agency requirements.
  10. Conduct ergonomic assessments and recommend improvements for workstations.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a bachelor’s degree and have a minimum of three years of experience in managing EH&S programs. Strong communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively, and proficiency in Microsoft Office are essential. A valid driver’s license and a solid understanding of safety regulations are also required.

Working Conditions

This role may involve outdoor work in various weather conditions and requires the ability to respond to emergencies and critical situations effectively.
