Pediatric Intensive Care Nurse Practitioner

Position Summary:
The Department of Pediatrics is actively seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to enhance our Pediatric Critical Care services. This role is situated in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where you will be part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team focused on delivering high-quality care to children facing serious medical challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Care:
- Conduct thorough examinations and manage the treatment of children with complex health issues in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
- Order and interpret clinical tests, ensuring accurate documentation and communication of results to the healthcare team.
- Prescribe medications and develop comprehensive treatment plans in collaboration with the medical team.
Education and Training:
Provide instruction and mentorship to nursing staff, medical students, and other healthcare professionals, fostering a culture of learning and excellence.
Research and Quality Improvement:
Engage in research initiatives and quality improvement projects to enhance patient outcomes and service delivery.

Schedule:
Flexibility in scheduling is required to ensure 24/7 coverage, with additional compensation provided for such arrangements.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
- Advanced Practice Nurse: Master’s Degree or higher in Nursing
- Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies
Licensure and Certification:
- Wisconsin RN License and Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License for Nurse Practitioners
- Wisconsin Physician Assistant License and NCCPA Certification for Physician Assistants
- Current BLS and PALS certifications
Preferred Experience:
- Two years of clinical experience in pediatric care, particularly in critical care settings.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with children and their families in high-pressure situations.
- Familiarity with advanced pediatric critical care practices and technologies.
