Our expansive 72-bed pediatric critical care unit is among the largest in the nation, where you will collaborate with a skilled team of healthcare professionals focused on delivering the highest quality of care.
Position Summary:
The Department of Pediatrics is currently seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to enhance our Pediatric Critical Care services. This role is integral to our multidisciplinary healthcare team, contributing to patient care, safety, research, and educational initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Care:
Conduct thorough examinations, manage treatment plans, and document care for children facing complex health challenges in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Responsibilities include:
- Ordering and interpreting clinical tests, communicating results to the medical team.
- Prescribing medications and recommending therapeutic interventions.
- Collaborating with physicians to address the acute and chronic healthcare needs of critically ill children.
- Utilizing extensive clinical experience to achieve patient care objectives.
Education and Training:
Provide instruction to nursing staff, medical students, and other healthcare professionals, fostering a culture of learning and excellence.
Research and Quality Improvement:
Engage in research initiatives and quality improvement projects to enhance service delivery and patient outcomes.

Qualifications:
Education:
Advanced Practice Nurse: Master’s Degree or higher in Nursing
Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies
Licensure:
Advanced Practice Nurse: Wisconsin RN License, Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License, Acute Care Pediatrics certification, Current BLS & PALS
Physician Assistant: Wisconsin Physician Assistant License, Certification by NCCPA, Current BLS & PALS
Preferred Experience:
- Two years of experience in pediatric patient care, with strong communication skills.
- Background in critical care nursing or relevant clinical practice.
- Familiarity with pediatric critical care concepts and procedures.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
