POSITION SUMMARY:

Role Overview:

The Medical College of Wisconsin's Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma & Acute Care is in search of a dedicated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to deliver specialized medical services within their defined scope of practice under the guidance of a licensed physician, adhering to established policies and procedures.

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will be an integral part of a collaborative healthcare team, contributing to the enhancement of program management, patient care, safety, research initiatives, quality improvement, and educational efforts.

In this capacity, the APP will work closely with Trauma and Acute Care Surgery faculty, collaborating with a diverse healthcare team to provide a comprehensive array of diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients within the outpatient clinic environment.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to diagnose and treat conditions necessitating surgical intervention in an outpatient setting.
  • Documenting accurate and timely progress notes, procedure notes, and admission and transfer orders.
  • Ordering, performing, and interpreting screening and diagnostic tests, while effectively communicating and documenting findings.
  • Facilitating communication with patients, families, and staff to ensure continuity of care throughout the treatment process.
  • Participating in required training and meeting essential regulatory standards.
  • Evaluating patient care quality outcomes by engaging in the development of quality indicators and outcome dashboards.
  • Staying informed on the latest advancements and trends in the Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant fields through continuous education and professional development.
  • Engaging in performance improvement activities within Trauma and Acute Care Surgery to enhance care quality and service effectiveness.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Conducting comprehensive histories and physical examinations, identifying both normal and abnormal findings across physical, cognitive, and psychosocial domains.
  • Ordering, performing, and interpreting necessary diagnostic procedures and tests, ensuring accurate communication and documentation of results.
