Position Summary:
The Department of Pediatrics is currently seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to enhance our Pediatric Critical Care services in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
As an Advanced Practice Provider (APP), you will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, contributing to patient care, safety, research, quality improvement, and education.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
Your role will involve assessing, treating, and documenting the care of children facing complex and critical health challenges in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting examinations, ordering and interpreting clinical tests, and communicating results to the medical team.
- Prescribing medications and recommending therapeutic interventions.
- Collaborating with physicians to address the healthcare needs of critically ill or injured children.
- Utilizing your expertise to achieve clinical goals with a high degree of autonomy.
Education and Training:
You will also engage in teaching opportunities, providing instruction to nursing staff, medical students, residents, and other healthcare professionals.
Quality Improvement and Research:
Participation in research initiatives and quality improvement projects is expected to enhance our services.

Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
For Advanced Practice Nurse: A Master's Degree or higher in Nursing.
For Physician Assistant: A Bachelor's Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies.
Licensure Requirements:
Advanced Practice Nurse: Wisconsin RN License, Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License, Acute Care Pediatrics certification, Current BLS & PALS.
Physician Assistant: Wisconsin Physician Assistant License, Certification by NCCPA, Current BLS & PALS.
Preferred Experience:
- A minimum of two years of experience in direct patient care for children, particularly in critical care settings.
- Experience with technology-dependent children and familiarity with advanced pediatric critical care practices.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
