We are seeking an experienced Metals Sales and Structuring Specialist with a deep understanding of both precious and base metals, with a focus on battery metals, including lithium, cobalt, and nickel.

This role requires a blend of technical knowledge, sales acumen, and market insight to develop and execute strategic sales initiatives while structuring deals that meet the needs of our clients and the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to growing / elevating the BMO and BMO Capital Markets brand with a commitment to and presence in the community.
  • Operate as a key member of the deal team with efforts to maximize sector penetration and returns.
  • Institute cross-selling initiatives to increase ranking with clients.
  • Manage client books and be accountable for risk, profit & loss, and limits for the book.
  • Provide comprehensive account coverage and client development as well as actively prospect new clients to increase revenue in assigned territories.
  • Maintain strong relationships with investors, understand their portfolios, and match firm services and products to client needs.
  • Work closely with sales, trading, and research teams to provide seamless client coverage, including fulfilling client requests for market updates and providing clients with specific product information.
  • Respond to inquiries from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community in a professional manner and determine acceptable solutions.
  • Contact customers to present available investment services and develop client prospects from among current customers, referral leads, and other sources.
  • Build positive client relations through deep/comprehensive understanding of client needs and alignment of our products/services.
  • Identify and leverage key decision makers and influencers in client/internal organizations.
  • Develop and/or facilitate development of client-focused solutions based on financial expertise, organizational, technical, regulatory, and environmental client awareness.
  • Distill market and internal data to negotiate solutions, terms, and conditions with clients/internal counterparts.
  • Identify opportunities for increased efficiency and improved service to internal and external clients and act as a positive change agent to drive improved efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Verify that all confirms on trades or sales are accurate and promptly delivered.
  • Communicate transaction details to the brokerage community and custodians. Resolve settlement issues related to incorrect billing.
  • Develop strong market knowledge to provide comprehensive service to clients, develop new solutions, and construct compelling recommendations.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents to better serve client needs.
  • Develop marketing ideas and help initiate transactions through appropriate presentation of financial data.
  • Determine business priorities and best sequence for execution of business/group strategy.
  • Develop and leverage relationships across businesses, senior leaders, and clients to foster and support coordination.
  • Ensure alignment between stakeholders.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with the research team to understand their industries and stock coverage.
  • Use analytical skills (probability, statistical inference, etc.) and apply appropriate technical concepts and complete/lead consistent and reliable technical and financial reports/analyses to support client deliverables.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Develop an understanding of and proficiency in using all required systems and models.
  • Sustain change management of varying scope and type; tasks typically focused on execution and sustainment activities.
  • Help colleagues with the presentation of information and prepare proposals for their review.
  • Assist colleagues in the research and resolution of administrative/operational issues.
  • Understand the complexity of transactions and related risk (credit, market, operational, legal/compliance, etc.).
  • Maintain and develop knowledge of client systems/applications and the internal web-based research document database.
