Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Public Health Assistant to join our team at Career Match Solutions. As a Public Health Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing essential services to participants in the WIC program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Implementation: Implement program policies and protocols to ensure excellent customer service to participants.
  • Certification and Eligibility: Complete certifications for low-risk participants, determining income, identity, and residency eligibility.
  • Nutrition Assessments: Conduct nutrition assessments, provide basic nutrition education, and complete food package assignments.
  • Referrals and Documentation: Refer participants to other social services and community resources, document interactions, and maintain accurate records.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with health professionals, participants, and community partners to ensure exceptional service provision.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining inventory, including computers, equipment, and supplies.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of the Strategic Community Outreach & Outcomes Plan (SCOOP) focusing on nutrition, outreach, and breastfeeding goals.
  • Public Health Promotion: Promote immunizations, oral health, and other public health services.
  • Community Outreach: Collaborate with community partners and providers to build effective working relationships and enhance referral pathways.
  • Participant Education: Explain the purpose of WIC to participants, provide basic nutrition education, and promote breastfeeding support.
  • Benefit Issuance: Assist with benefit issuance, including direct issuance of formula and printing of reports.
  • Reporting and Data Analysis: Print and review reports, including Clients Eligible for Benefits and statistical information.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma, post-secondary education in a health-related field is desirable.
  • Language Skills: Literacy and language skills appropriate to address the needs of diverse populations.
  • Transportation: Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
  • Bilingualism: Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
Work Environment

Work Location: Rapid City Local Agency. Travel is required.
