Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Specialist to join our team at Woodbury County, IA. As a key member of our public health department, you will play a critical role in analyzing clinical and environmental samples, conducting communicable disease investigations, and providing education and customer service to the public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diversified professional laboratory work, including analyzing clinical and environmental samples, conducting communicable disease investigations, and performing examinations and treatment for sexually transmitted infections.
  • Assist in emergency preparedness planning, updating plans, coordinating and participating in training and exercises.
  • Perform laboratory housekeeping functions and quality control procedures, operate laboratory equipment, and collect environmental and limited clinical samples from various sources.
  • Provide education and customer service duties to the public regarding the services of Woodbury County, IA.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in microbiology, medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical, or biological sciences.
  • OR Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited school of nursing with current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa.
  • OR Associate degree in chemical, physical, or biological science or medical laboratory or equivalent education and training may be considered.
  • Valid Driver License, ability to obtain car insurance at agency-specified liability level, and reliable transportation.
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs.
