POSITION SUMMARY: Under the guidance of the Program Coordinator, the Program Activity Coordinator is tasked with the organization and execution of activity lesson plans within a designated area of expertise. This role involves collaborating with team members to support all necessary activities for the effective functioning of the program while ensuring the safety and inclusion of all participants. The Coordinator should possess specialized knowledge in one or more disciplines or content-specific activities that enhance the experiences of children within the Hudson Guild program.

QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of an Associate's Degree or equivalent credits from an accredited institution is required, along with at least 2 years of relevant experience OR a minimum of 4 years of expertise in a specialized field (such as Drama, Visual/Digital Art, Music, Dance, Cooking, etc.) and the ability to present a portfolio, work samples, lesson plans, etc. Experience working with elementary school students or in any youth services capacity is essential. Candidates must demonstrate exceptional classroom management abilities and the capacity to create and implement lesson plans. Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary, along with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Candidates should be adept at engaging children and exhibit flexibility in the workplace, including remote work and providing youth services through virtual platforms.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor's Degree is preferred, along with 4 or more years of relevant experience. Expertise in a specialized area (such as STEM, Recreation, Art, Music, Dance, Chess, Cooking, etc.) and the ability to adapt this expertise into various programmatic activities is highly desirable.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and implement activity lesson plans in areas of specialty that promote skill development and reinforce previously taught concepts.
  • Collaborate with Group Leaders and other staff, engaging them in the lesson plan development process and demonstrating activity facilitation to support their professional growth.
  • Assist in all operational activities of the program, including supervising children during snack/supper, facilitating dismissal, conducting field trips, hosting special events, and other assigned program areas.
  • Oversee participants and summer interns, maintaining order and a positive, youth-focused atmosphere while ensuring safety and inclusion for all.
  • Complete necessary documentation to track student progress and participation, including daily attendance, logs, and sign-in sheets.
  • Manage materials and room organization, reporting any misuse or damage to the supervisor.
  • Communicate professionally with all staff, parents, children, and community members in a respectful manner.
  • Adhere to program policies and procedures while fostering an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that values diversity among staff, participants, and stakeholders.
  • Actively engage in mandatory professional development training and meetings.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The role requires travel between various sites, including schools, offices, and community centers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position necessitates constant communication with participants and colleagues; the ability to exchange accurate information is essential. Occasionally, the role may require lifting up to 25 lbs and remaining stationary for extended periods.
