Job Title: Behavior Support Specialist

About the Position:

We are seeking an experienced Behavior Support Specialist to join our team at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. As a key member of our crisis prevention and intervention team, you will work collaboratively with teachers, counselors, and administrators to develop and implement proactive strategies that promote positive behavior and reduce disruptions in the classroom and school setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and analyze student behavior, developing functional behavior assessments and behavioral intervention plans (BIPs) to address challenging behaviors.
  • Collaborate with special education teams to integrate BIPs into IEPs and provide individualized support to students.
  • Deliver group and individual interventions, utilizing evidence-based practices and visual supports to teach alternative behaviors.
  • Maintain accurate records, tracking student progress and program effectiveness.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Psychology, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • North Carolina Teaching License and Certification in Special Education.
  • State-approved training for seclusion and restraint procedures.

Estimated Salary Range: $55,000 - $75,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
