Job Summary: The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking a skilled Behavior Support Technician to support school staff during crisis situations related to student behavior and mental health issues.

About the Role: As a Behavior Support Technician, you will conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and collaborate with staff when developing and implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). You will also implement Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) strategies as needed for students with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides one-on-one support to students in crisis situations using CPI strategies
  • Conducts FBAs to identify underlying causes of student behavior
  • Collaborates with school staff during individual student crisis situations
  • Collections and analyzes data related to student behavior
  • Participates in developing BIPs to address student behavior
  • Maintains accurate records of student progress
  • Performs related duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field
  • Three years of experience working with students with behavioral challenges
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Knowledge of CPI strategies and techniques
