Vehicle Barrier Systems Technician

Overview:
We are looking for a qualified and enthusiastic Vehicle Barrier Systems Technician to support our operations at Barrier1 Systems. The ideal candidate will focus on the installation, upkeep, and troubleshooting of low voltage systems, which include gate operators, bollards, and various vehicle barrier security solutions. This role involves significant travel (approximately 75%) to different client locations across the country to ensure effective system setup and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation and Configuration:
- Execute the installation and configuration of vehicle barrier systems, including automatic gate operators and bollards.
- Set up and program control panels and access control systems, along with associated low voltage components.
- Guarantee proper integration with other security measures, such as CCTV and alarm systems.
- Maintenance and Repairs:
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicle barrier systems to maintain peak performance.
- Identify and rectify faults in electrical circuits, control panels, and mechanical parts.
- Replace or upgrade components as needed to ensure system reliability.
- System Testing and Documentation:
- Perform comprehensive testing of installed systems to confirm correct operation and adherence to industry standards.
- Keep meticulous records of all installations, repairs, and maintenance tasks.
- Provide detailed reports and suggestions for system enhancements or upgrades.
- Customer Support and Training:
- Deliver exceptional customer service by communicating effectively and professionally with clients.
- Provide training and assistance to customers regarding the operation and upkeep of vehicle barrier systems.
- Respond swiftly to service requests and emergencies to minimize downtime and ensure client satisfaction.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and OSHA regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Ensure that installations and repairs comply with local, state, and federal regulations and standards.
- Travel Requirements:
- Must be prepared and able to travel frequently to various client sites for installation, maintenance, and support.
- Some overnight stays may be necessary depending on project locations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in electronics or a related field is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience as a Low Voltage Technician, particularly with vehicle barrier systems or similar security infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of low voltage systems, electrical circuits, and electronic components.
- Familiarity with control panels, access control systems, and integration with other security technologies.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Valid driver's license and dependable transportation.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and at different times of the day.
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
