Payroll Manager, ADP

The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing the payroll operations of Minerals Technologies Inc. This includes directing the ADP payroll system, processing payroll, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
Responsibilities- Timely and accurate payroll processing for approximately 1700+ employees in the United States
- Audit input and accuracy of data prior to completion of payroll
- Compile and maintain payroll data, including hours worked, attendance, vacation hours, taxes, insurance, sick time, holiday pay, and personal time
- Coordinate and/or process payments to third parties, such as non-1099 payments, garnishments, and tax levies
- Process 401k plan reports and wire transfer documentation
- Manage year-end process
- Ensure accuracy of W-2 processing and reporting
- Consolidate, analyze, and report all payroll-related information for the general ledger and management
- Ensure strong system of internal controls and procedures exists to comply with internal and external audits and SOX requirements
- Reconcile all federal, state, and local quarterly tax returns
- Maintain familiarity with federal, state, and local employment tax and payroll regulations, as well as visa regulations
- Manage and administer payroll-related system implementations and interfaces
- Handle security access requests/changes for ADP System
- Establish payroll calendars for the companies
- Conduct testing after ADP updates are made
- Responsible for problem tracking, escalation, and resolution
- 10 years of relevant payroll experience
- 7+ years of experience with ADP and Kronos Time and Attendance Systems
- Extensive knowledge of the payroll process, compliance rules and regulations, and knowledge of time and attendance tracking and related issues
- Solid understanding of the impact of payroll and related taxes on financial reporting
- Ability to interpret garnishment and levy correspondence and apply to payroll processing
- Knowledge of payroll controls and audit techniques
- Ability to produce, verify, and administer standard and ad-hoc payroll reporting
- Familiarity with change management and human resource issues
- Full understanding of system interfaces
- General PC skills and software, including Excel and MS Word for Windows
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and manage several projects simultaneously
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Self-starter with good management, communication, interpersonal, and general business skills
- Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
The Payroll Manager will work in a controlled office environment, moving around the office as needed, sitting at a desk, using office equipment, including but not limited to a personal computer, fax machine, copier, and telephone. The employee is expected to be self-directed, take initiative, and be persistent when appropriate to accomplish necessary duties and keep busy without prompting.
The employee is expected to be adaptable/flexible to changing work assignments, analytical, organized, and detail-oriented, perform multiple tasks at once, compose correspondence and other documentation in a professional manner, express ideas constructively, actively listen to others, manage time effectively and efficiently to meet deadlines, learn and memorize procedures, display a cooperative attitude, read, understand, and follow all company, job-specific, and safety policies/procedures, and attend/use all required training.
The Payroll Manager must have the ability to work the shift/number of hours in which duties need to be accomplished, including overtime, holidays, and weekends, as necessary.
