Job Overview

Position: Finance and Accounting Supervisor

Location: Remote (Hybrid)

Contract Duration: 6+ months

Key Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in finance and accounting.
  • Proficient in General Ledger (GL) management and reporting, with a solid understanding of GAAP principles.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, including Pivot Tables, and comfortable handling extensive datasets.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related STEM field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging with all management levels.
  • Strong analytical and reasoning abilities, with a comprehensive understanding of accrual accounting and its implications.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, especially Excel); familiarity with Workday Financials and Coupa is advantageous but not mandatory.

Additional Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and resourcefully in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong accountability and results-oriented mindset, with a commitment to excellence.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience with Coupa is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee monthly and quarterly closing processes for the designated operational division, ensuring accurate recording and classification of third-party goods and services.
  • Conduct detailed reporting and analysis of actual expenditures, reviewing accrual journal entries to ensure accurate capture of incurred costs from both P&L and Balance Sheet perspectives.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert, providing clear explanations of monthly spending results and supporting analyses.
  • Collaborate with operational leads and planning teams to address expense inquiries and gather variance analysis as needed.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of Balance Sheet accounts, including Prepaids and Vendor accruals.
  • Manage the Procure-to-Pay process, including vendor management and invoice processing, ensuring compliance with Purchase Order requirements.
  • Serve as the primary contact for Accounts Payable, facilitating the onboarding of new vendors and maintaining relationships with existing ones.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to interpret and analyze contracts related to Purchase Orders and invoice receipts.
  • Prepare ad hoc projects and identify opportunities for operational enhancements.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the Planning and Analysis team during month-end and budget/forecast cycles.
  • Ensure adherence to deadlines set by the General Accounting team and maintain a personal month-end closing checklist.
  • Assist in the preparation of presentations and supporting materials for management.
  • Support Internal and External Audit requests, ensuring compliance with identified controls and proper documentation of transactions.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related STEM field.
