Role Summary: The Caseworker is responsible for delivering trauma-informed support to refugees and eligible immigrants, ensuring a smooth resettlement process and fostering client self-sufficiency. This role involves close collaboration with clients, colleagues, and external organizations to create tailored service and self-sufficiency plans that align with individual client needs and preferences, utilizing a wide array of resources including financial, medical, social, and vocational services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate timely pre- and post-arrival services to guarantee clients receive essential living resources such as housing, food, medical care, and transportation, while acclimating to their new surroundings.
  • Conduct comprehensive intake assessments to identify client needs. Collaborate with clients to develop personalized self-sufficiency plans and timelines, providing targeted support through direct services, referrals, and advocacy.
  • Monitor and evaluate client progress towards established goals, addressing any challenges that arise and ensuring optimal use of available resources.
  • Document all client interactions in compliance with program guidelines. Maintain accurate client records in databases and assist with necessary tracking and reporting.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and partner organizations, fostering relationships with local service providers to enhance client support.
  • Utilize personal, insured vehicles and/or public transportation to travel and assist clients as required throughout the service area.
  • May oversee and guide the activities of volunteers and interns.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Education: A Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in the human services sector is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with refugee and immigrant populations is highly desirable.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Exceptional relationship-building, diplomacy, and networking abilities; adept at cultivating internal and external partnerships.
  • Proven effectiveness in a multicultural environment, with strong communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving capabilities, capable of managing multiple tasks and prioritizing effectively.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in all work outputs.
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written; proficiency in languages spoken by IRC clients, such as Dari, Farsi, and/or Pashto, is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and skilled in utilizing digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a personal, insured vehicle.
Work Environment:
  • This role involves a mix of standard office settings, remote work, and fieldwork within the service delivery area.
  • Weekend and/or evening work may be required.
