Position Overview

We are seeking a full-time (35 hours per week) Activity Director/Program Aide at our Bridgeview Adult Day Health Center. The ideal candidate will assist the Program Leader in the preparation and oversight of activities, daily activity functions of the program, and assist in the development of social, educational, and recreational programs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Program Coordinator with assigned duties.
  • Plan and implement appropriate activities that meet the individual needs of each participant.
  • Assist in the recruitment and training of volunteers.
  • Contribute to the design of new ideas to increase and ensure program growth and quality.
  • Maintain individual participant records, including initial interest and ability assessments, quarterly program notes, and daily activity logs.
  • Participate in the bi-annual or quarterly review of each participant's care plan.
  • Assist with the delivery of other required program services.
  • Develop a monthly calendar of activities and events.
  • Respond to report requirements of the appropriate regulatory agency.
  • Assist the Program Coordinator with the implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and observe for ongoing mental and physical limitations. Report to appropriate staff.
  • Assist participants with opportunities for socialization, education, group interaction, and recreation.
  • Assist with meal procurement, service, and delivery and cleanup in accordance with sanitary food preparation and USDA standards.
  • Occasionally provide transportation to and from community activities.

Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma is required.
  • Certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist or at least two years of experience working in the social or recreational program within the last five years, one of which was full-time in an activities program in a health care setting. If not certified, you will consult with an occupational therapist in the development of a therapeutic activities program that meets the needs of each participant.
  • A valid driver's license and a good driving record are required.
  • Successful completion of a MA State CORI check, CPS check, and company-paid pre-employment physical, drug and alcohol testing, and enrollment in our drug and alcohol testing consortium is required.
