Telecommunications Field Technician

Segra is seeking a skilled and motivated Field Service Engineer to join our team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of our network within the telecommunications sector.

The Field Service Engineer will oversee daily network functions, which encompass equipment installation and commissioning, circuit and node activation and testing, as well as managing customer premise equipment such as Ethernet Network Interface Devices, Routers, Data Switches, premise Firewalls, Integrated Access Devices, Hosted phones, and Optical Network Terminals. Responsibilities also include preventive maintenance and troubleshooting associated with transport and switching infrastructures, as well as IP and Data networks. Field Operations personnel will be required to perform on-call duties as necessary. The FSE will collaborate with both internal and external clients, service technicians, technical support teams, and other telecommunications professionals.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proficient knowledge of telecommunications equipment (e.g., Cisco, Ciena).
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working with telecommunications equipment.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or relevant technical field experience is preferred, along with a combination of applicable job experience.
  • Experience with Cisco and/or Ciena equipment is advantageous.
  • Understanding of AC/DC core principles; a clean driving record; familiarity with Office 365 suite.
  • Ability to interpret and utilize engineering documentation.
  • Competence in operating advanced industry testing equipment, including DS1-100G, OTDR, and fiber scopes.
  • Knowledgeable in DC power applications to support tertiary power systems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Capable of managing routine tasks for significant projects and making regular decisions as needed.
