Telecommunications Field Technician

Position Overview:
Segra is seeking a skilled and motivated Field Service Engineer to enhance our operations within the telecommunications sector. The successful candidate will be evaluated based on their expertise and qualifications, allowing for flexibility in hiring at various experience levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily network operations, which include equipment setup and commissioning, circuit/node activation and testing, and managing customer premise devices such as Ethernet Network Interface Devices, Routers, Data Switches, premise Firewalls, Integrated Access Devices, Hosted phones, and Optical Network Terminals.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and troubleshooting related to transport and switching infrastructure as well as IP/Data networks.
- Participate in on-call duties as necessary, ensuring prompt response to service requests.
- Collaborate with both internal teams and external clients, including service technicians and technical support staff.
Essential Qualifications:
- Proficient knowledge of telecommunications equipment (e.g., Cisco, Ciena).
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the telecommunications field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or equivalent technical experience in a related industry.
- Experience with Cisco and/or Ciena equipment is advantageous.
- Understanding of AC/DC fundamentals and a clean driving record.
- Familiarity with the Office 365 suite and engineering documentation.
- Ability to operate advanced industry testing equipment, including DS1-100G, OTDR, and fiber scopes.
- Knowledge of DC power systems to support tertiary power applications.
- Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience in managing routine tasks for significant projects and making informed decisions as needed.
