Position Overview

As a Residential Care Provider with Golden Heart Des Moines, you will create a nurturing environment for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). This role involves sharing your home and life with those in need, providing them with essential support and care.

Commitment

This position requires a commitment of one full year, with the option to renew the agreement thereafter. Should you choose to discontinue your role, a written notice of three months is required.

Living Arrangements

As a caregiver, you can either own or rent your residence, where you will offer hands-on assistance and daily care. The individual will have access to a furnished space within your home, including shared areas such as the kitchen and living room.

Requirements
  • Willingness to accommodate unannounced and scheduled visits from staff.
  • Acceptance of video monitoring in common areas.
  • Ability to implement and oversee person-centered plans for the individuals served.
  • Compliance with documentation policies to ensure timely payment for services rendered.
  • Signing of a contractor agreement and adherence to the outlined terms.
Qualifications
  • Experience in providing personal care.
  • Background in working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to utilize adaptive equipment for transfers and personal care (training provided).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license and vehicle insurance.
  • Access to a personal vehicle.
  • Completion of training in Medication Administration, CPR/First Aid, and ongoing education as required.
  • Preference for no pets or full-time children, though we will match caregivers with clients accordingly.
  • A good sense of humor, patience, and a dedicated personality are advantageous.
  • Willingness to undergo onboarding and pass background checks.
Key Responsibilities

  • Support independent living skills.
  • Facilitate transportation needs.
  • Engage in community outings.
  • Assist with meal preparation and serving.
  • Support medication management.
  • Help with personal hygiene and grooming.
  • Provide assistance with bathing and toileting as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for each individual daily.
  • Offer supervision, guidance, and security.
  • Empower clients to achieve their life goals.
  • Foster independence and autonomy for clients in their home and community.
