Position Overview and Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Holistic Well-Being and serving as a member of the Student Affairs Leadership Team, the Director of Student Accessibility and Educational Opportunities provides strategic leadership and direction for all student-focused disability resource and accessibility initiatives on campus.

The Director will oversee a team of professionals and student workers.

This role encompasses comprehensive oversight and strategic leadership for the primary functional areas of the office, working closely with associate directors.

This Director will serve as the institution's expert on matters related to student access and accommodation, engaging regularly with faculty, staff, parents, and community organizations.

The Director is responsible for drafting and reviewing institutional policies and procedures that impact accessibility and service provision for students.

The institution relies on the Director to ensure an accessible and inclusive environment for the registered students and the broader university community.

This position is expected to be on-site and is not eligible for remote work.


Minimum Qualifications

A Master's degree in higher education administration, special education, counseling, psychology, social work, or related fields.

A minimum of seven years of full-time, professional experience in postsecondary disability resources and accessibility, with at least three years in a progressive leadership role.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse, multicultural environment, fostering inclusivity among faculty, staff, and students.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

Knowledge of Federal, State, and local legal updates related to accessibility and disability support.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong interpersonal and public relations abilities.

Proven administrative skills in managing complex information and systems, program evaluation, budget management, and organizational goal development.

Demonstrated customer service orientation.

Strong communication and presentation skills, including listening, speaking, and writing.

Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Capacity to work creatively in both collaborative and independent contexts.


Preferred Qualifications

A terminal degree in higher education administration, special education, counseling, psychology, social work, or related fields.

A minimum of ten years of full-time, professional experience in postsecondary disability resources and accessibility, with at least five years in a progressive leadership role.
