Position Overview

As a Senior Systems Engineer, your primary focus will be to provide our team with the essential tools, support, and applications necessary for their daily operations. The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of network protocols, experience in supporting end-users across diverse operating systems, and strong cloud management expertise. You will play a vital role in balancing access for the team while safeguarding our unique data and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure consistent monitoring and alerting for systems infrastructure.
  • Manage identity on platforms utilizing Azure Active Directory and Active Directory Domain Services.
  • Develop and implement Group Policy objects to enhance global security and streamline end-user workflows.
  • Install, configure, manage, patch, and secure hardware/software in line with established standards and compliance requirements.
  • Continuously develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures, processes, and troubleshooting documentation.
  • Establish efficiency and effectiveness standards, offering recommendations for IT infrastructure improvements.
  • Analyze IT infrastructure and system performance to evaluate operating costs, productivity levels, upgrade needs, and other metrics.
  • Oversee the management of systems, networks, and enterprise information.
  • Facilitate IT security audits or investigations.
  • Monitor and manage the IT budget to ensure the effective delivery of IT services.
  • Independently identify, research, and resolve technical issues.
  • Manage file, print, and application servers.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and licensing records for hardware and software acquisitions.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with external IT vendors and service providers.
  • Create technical designs and estimates that align with business needs while supporting the company's IT direction and standards.
  • Produce and maintain up-to-date network architecture diagrams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related IT field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in IT and System Administration.
  • Availability for off-hours work to perform maintenance or respond to emergencies.
  • Solid understanding of network protocols.
  • Experience supporting a variety of applications on Windows operating systems, including Microsoft Office, SharePoint, VPN clients, firewalls, disk encryption, and antivirus software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Active Directory administration.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing hardware and network issues in both virtual and physical environments.
  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent time management skills.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, well-organized, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Familiarity with Windows Server OS and Linux server OS (Various Versions).
  • Experience with Windows Services: AD, DNS, LDAP, etc.
  • Administration experience with Office 365.
  • Knowledge of antivirus/antimalware solutions.
  • Experience with system backup and recovery processes.
  • 4-5 years of Azure Cloud management experience.
  • Understanding of System Security Design and Principles.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell or Bash.
  • Prior experience collaborating with external vendors and contractors.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with IT colleagues to identify root causes and design effective solutions.
  • Strong analytical, prioritization, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management, and planning skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with Pure Storage is a plus.
