On-site Chemical Engineering Specialist

Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Uphold stringent Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards while handling chemicals and chemical operations.
  • Offer expert advice and solutions for chemical-related challenges, including waste management.
  • Assist in the processing of electrochemical, catalytic bead combustible, and infrared gas detection sensors.
  • Address technical processing challenges through thorough investigation, planning, experimentation, and documentation of new process standards.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of hazardous materials.
  • Develop processes and assembly techniques that meet or surpass product cost and design objectives while enhancing quality.
  • Facilitate Beta build planning, coordination, execution, and data analysis for engineering delivery.
  • Design and refine chemical processes for ultra-high purity gas manufacturing systems.
  • Create engineering documentation including Process Flow Diagrams, Instrumentation Specifications, and more.
  • Lead as the technical authority on process enhancements and troubleshooting investigations.
  • Gather and evaluate research and process data to ensure statistical control over production operations.
  • Provide process insights for proposed design modifications and enhancements.
  • Support system and process parameter setup, verification, and transition to production.
  • Analyze data related to customer specifications and requirements for effective implementation into manufacturing processes.
  • Deliver technical presentations to staff and clients as necessary.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • In-depth knowledge of chemical processes and processing techniques.
  • Experience in electrochemical processing.
  • Familiarity with catalytic bead processing.
  • Understanding of infrared gas detection sensor processing.
  • Strong leadership abilities to mentor and guide engineering teams and technicians.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in developing a behavior-based safety culture.
  • Track record of leading cost-reduction initiatives in a manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with the MSA Business System.
  • Proficiency in Six Sigma methodologies and Minitab software.
  • Knowledge of adhesives and experience with small-scale resistance welding and heat sealing.
  • Experience with SAP ERP software.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Analytical Chemistry, Physics, or a related field from an ABET accredited institution.
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Master's or Doctorate in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Analytical Chemistry, Physics, or Chemistry.
  • Two or more years of hands-on experience in the design, fabrication, testing, and performance evaluation of catalysts or resistive thermal sensors.
