Position Title: Lead Systems Administrator for Missile Defense Space Enterprise Architecture

Location: Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO

Relocation Assistance: Not available

Remote/Telework: Not applicable

Clearance Type: DoD Secret

Shift: Day shift (Monday to Friday)

Travel Requirements: Up to 10% of the time

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for a team of skilled Linux and Windows system administrators dedicated to the Missile Defense Space Enterprise Architecture (MDSEA).
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in system administration, focusing on operating systems, hardware/software integration, virtualization, and container technologies.
  • Possess a strong command of both Windows and Linux systems to effectively delegate tasks within a dynamic environment.
  • Facilitate collaboration with internal program elements to enhance system administration support.
  • Work alongside engineers to deliver high-quality system administration services to government clients.
  • Collaborate with system engineers to define requirements for new systems and modifications, developing and testing innovative solutions.
  • Oversee daily system monitoring, backups, and application upgrades to ensure seamless operations.
  • Ensure compliance with established policies for software installations, maintenance, and cybersecurity measures.
  • Engage with hardware and software vendors, participating in necessary vendor activities.
  • Assist with Systems Administrator tasks as required by mission demands.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive system administration documentation and training plans for team development.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills to foster effective communication with team members and stakeholders.
  • Be prepared to respond to mission surge support events within a two-hour timeframe.

Qualifications:

This position may be filled at various levels based on the candidate's experience and qualifications. Candidates must meet one of the following educational and experience combinations:

  • High School Diploma (or GED) with 14 years of general experience
  • Associate's degree with 12 years of general experience
  • Bachelor's degree with 10 years of general experience
  • Master's degree with 8 years of general experience

Essential Experience:

  • A minimum of 8 years of specialized experience in systems administration for both Windows and Linux environments.
  • At least 3 years of leadership or management experience.
  • Experience with virtual environments, particularly VMware.
  • A current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification or higher.
  • A current DoD Secret security clearance with the potential to obtain a Top Secret with SCI.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in leading and managing technical teams.
  • Experience with Red Hat Linux environments and Identity Management (IdM) Servers.
  • Familiarity with Windows Active Directory and Group Policy Objects.
  • Experience in conducting log analysis for root cause assessments.
  • In-depth knowledge of virtualization infrastructure and Kubernetes technologies.
  • Experience with classified data networks and a solid understanding of information assurance compliance.

Compensation: The expected salary range for this position is $146,300 - $171,300 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
