Job Summary

The Wisconsin Department of Justice is seeking a highly skilled and experienced law enforcement professional to lead its Division of Criminal Investigation as the Criminal Investigation Director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a statewide investigation and enforcement program
  • Manage complex executive liaison and staff functions, including budgeting and resource allocation
  • Establish goals and objectives for the bureau, aligning with the department's overall mission and vision
  • Design and implement new investigative programs, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and methodologies
  • Supervise and mentor law enforcement personnel and civilian support staff, fostering a culture of excellence and professionalism
  • Provide training and development opportunities in highly specialized investigative areas, ensuring staff are equipped to tackle complex cases
  • Respond to critical incidents and investigative cases, demonstrating expertise and sound judgment
  • Participate in workgroups and collaborations with local, state, and federal agencies, driving public safety initiatives and best practices
Requirements
  • Be at least 18 years of age upon appointment
  • Possess a general educational development diploma or be a high school graduate
  • Possess/be eligible to possess a Wisconsin driver's license upon appointment
  • Have no unpardoned felony convictions or convictions of domestic violence offenses
  • Be a law enforcement officer certified/certifiable in the State of Wisconsin or be eligible to take the reciprocity examination
