Job Summary

This is a Senior-level role that involves investigating and managing complex property/casualty claims. The successful candidate will be responsible for determining liability, securing information, reviewing coverages, arranging appraisals, and settling third-party property liability claims.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigation and Analysis: Investigate the origin and cause of claims by contacting relevant parties, including insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, experts, and other adjusters.
  • Complex Issue Identification: Identify complex issues and seek assistance as needed to handle claims on a good faith basis.
  • Claim Handling: Handle third-party claims under multiple policy types and numerous endorsements, evaluating damage and negotiating with insureds, claimants, attorneys, and public adjusters.
  • Customer Service: Respond to customer inquiries, make appropriate decisions, and close files as needed.
  • Policy Interpretation: Interpret and determine policies, leases, by-laws, declarations, articles, and contract coverages, and apply them to all parties for assigned losses.
  • Decision-Making and Supervision: Make independent decisions and self-supervise most files, recognizing when assistance is needed.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Proactively provide claim process and status information to all parties, answer questions, and redirect to other areas as needed.
  • Mentorship and Expertise: Serve as a mentor and subject matter expert for less experienced adjusters.
Requirements
  • Customer-Driven Solutions: Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
  • Claims Handling Experience: Demonstrated experience handling first- and third-party, multi-line claims.
  • Complexity Level: Demonstrated experience handling simple to moderately complex claims.
  • Policies and Endorsements: Extensive knowledge and understanding of policies and endorsements.
  • Claim Handling Process: Extensive knowledge of each phase of the claim handling process.
Work Environment

This is a primarily home-based role, with the expectation of spending 80% of work time (four or more days per week) working from home, proximate to one of our office locations (within approximately 35-50 miles). On occasion, you may be asked to travel to an office location for in-person engagement activities such as team meetings, trainings, and culture events.
