About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team at Graduate Roosevelt Island. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of food preparation and presentation, while maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Production and Quality Control: Oversee the preparation and presentation of all menu items, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish.
  • Team Management: Supervise and train kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure seamless operations.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and control food and labor costs, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Health and Safety: Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Menu Development: Collaborate with the Director of F&B to create and implement new menu items and promotions.
  • Customer Service: Respond to guest complaints and feedback, ensuring exceptional customer service.
Requirements
  • Experience: At least 4 years of related progressive experience in a hotel or a related field.
  • Education: Culinary graduate or equivalent experience.
  • Skills: Knowledge of F&B preparation techniques, health department rules and regulations, liquor laws and regulations.
  • Physical Demands: Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
