Job Title: Sous Chef

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at Peak Restaurant by Rhubarb LLC. As a key member of our culinary department, you will play a crucial role in the profitable and effective operation of our kitchen.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute menus in conjunction with the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef.
  • Ensure the daily preparation of high-quality products while maintaining budgeted food costs.
  • Recruit, supervise, coach, counsel, direct, train, and mentor employees to meet company quality standards.
  • Prepare scheduling and assign tasks for optimum productivity and efficiency.
  • Manage all aspects of employee relations to ensure a positive, harmonious, compliant, and cooperative work environment.
  • Ensure open availability, professional presentation, and outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Maintain a clean and stocked workplace, prep area, storage area, and walk-in.
  • Implement all personnel policies and decisions as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Provide feedback to the Executive Chef regarding team and individual performance.
  • Administer disciplinary action when necessary, including termination.
  • Document and record all personnel discipline information.
  • Consult with Human Resources for personnel discipline issues.
  • Administer goal setting, performance evaluations, and skills training as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Professional degree in Culinary Arts preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a similar position in an upscale restaurant with prior supervisory experience.
  • State-issued Health Certificate and immunizations are required.
  • Technical proficiency and experience demonstrating verifiable knowledge of food preparation methods.
  • Ability to positively interact with diverse personalities.
  • Active listening and effective communication skills.
  • Good leadership skills to develop results-oriented staff.
  • Ability to train others in developing needed skills for effective job performance.
  • Good delegation skills to ensure staff meet objectives and achieve desired results.
  • Proficient in recognizing problems and finding solutions creatively and expeditiously.
  • Ability to set priorities and use initiative; solid decision-maker.
  • Must be detail-oriented, multi-task, and effectively prioritize in a continuously changing environment.
  • Must be self-directed while working in a team-oriented environment.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule; able and willing to work nights, weekends, and long hours.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be Serve Safe certified.
  • Knowledge of and skill in using computer software, including MS Word/Excel/Outlook.
