Bookkeeping and Accounting Associate

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the Yavapai County team as an Accounting Specialist I. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of accounting and clerical tasks to support the financial management and operations of the assigned department.
Key Responsibilities:- Accounting and Bookkeeping: Perform accounting and bookkeeping operations, including processing accounts payable, maintaining related filing systems, and making journal entries.
- Financial Transactions: Process financial transactions, including authorizing payment, entering payment information into financial and/or case management systems, and printing checks.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and documentation, including filing and retrieving documents from filing systems.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service and support, responding to inquiries and directing individuals to the appropriate area or assisting them with information and answering questions.
- Communication: Communicate effectively verbally and in writing, both in person and by phone, with public and employees.
- Organization and Time Management: Organize and prioritize workload to meet established deadlines, and maintain accurate and up-to-date records and documentation.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: A minimum of four (4) years of experience in general bookkeeping and/or governmental accounting.
- Additional Requirements: Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license.
The work environment is associated with an office. The work area is adequately lighted, heated or cooled and ventilated.
Physical Requirements:The ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, hearing and speech ability to communicate effectively in-person and telephonically, and the ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
