Role Summary:

The Senior Clinical Dietitian is responsible for utilizing advanced practice skills, education, and experience to provide clinical leadership. This includes:

  • Managing assigned clinical areas and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and evidence-based practices.
  • Engaging in Performance Improvement initiatives and serving as a clinical nutrition authority in team discussions, daily rounds, and meetings.
  • Conducting educational sessions for clinical dietitians, interdisciplinary teams, dietetic interns, and nutrition assistants.
  • Overseeing ongoing training and competency assessments for self, new hires, and interns.
  • Demonstrating self-direction and effective task management to prioritize patient care.

The Senior Clinical Dietitian is also tasked with providing Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) Services across all patient units, ensuring the identification of patients at nutritional risk.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Uphold the Mercy Mission, Values, and Service Standards while ensuring confidentiality and adherence to departmental policies.
2. Optimize the use of Health Center resources to enhance patient care.
3. Execute assigned duties in alignment with our mission and values.

Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in clinical dietetics, with a preference for 3-5 years of clinical experience and expertise in the Nutritional Care Process.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics is required; a Master's Degree and Board Certification in a specialty area are preferred.
  • Certifications: Must maintain current Registered Dietitian (RD) and Licensed Dietitian (LD) status, with credentialing and NPI completed within six months of hire.
  • Skills: Proficient in basic computer applications, advanced presentation skills, and effective communication with patients and colleagues. A strong interest in clinical development and critical thinking abilities are essential.
