Role Summary:
The Senior Clinical Dietitian is responsible for utilizing advanced practice skills, education, and experience to provide clinical leadership and oversight in designated patient care areas. This role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure adherence to operational standards and evidence-based practices that meet regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Engaging in Performance Improvement initiatives and serving as a clinical nutrition authority in team discussions, daily rounds, and interdisciplinary meetings.
- Facilitating training and educational sessions for clinical dietitians, healthcare teams, dietetic interns, and nutrition assistants.
- Conducting ongoing competency assessments and training for self, new hires, and interns.
- Managing multiple responsibilities effectively while prioritizing patient care through critical thinking.
- Providing Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) Services to patients identified as at nutrition risk across all service areas.
Commitment to Excellence:
The Senior Clinical Dietitian ensures compliance with Mercy's mission, values, and service standards while optimizing the use of Health Center resources to enhance patient care. Responsibilities are carried out with minimal supervision across various patient units and service areas.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in clinical dietetics, with a preference for 3-5 years of clinical experience and proficiency in the Nutritional Care Process.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics is required; a Master's Degree in Dietetics or a related field is preferred.
- Certifications: Must maintain current Registered Dietitian (RD) and Licensed Dietitian (LD) status, with credentialing and NPI completed within six months of hire.
- Skills: Proficient in basic computer and office software, with advanced presentation and communication skills.
