Role Summary:

The Senior Clinical Dietitian is responsible for delivering expert clinical nutrition services, leveraging advanced practice skills and extensive experience. This role includes:

  • Oversight of designated clinical and patient care areas, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices and regulatory standards.
  • Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes through effective nutrition strategies.
  • Engagement in Performance Improvement initiatives, serving as a clinical nutrition authority in team discussions and patient rounds.
  • Facilitation of educational sessions for clinical dietitians, healthcare teams, and dietetic interns, promoting continuous learning and competency development.
  • Identification of patients at nutritional risk and provision of Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) services across various patient settings.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Clinical Dietitian will:
  • Uphold the Mercy Mission and Values, ensuring compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Utilize Health Center resources effectively to optimize patient care.
  • Perform assigned duties with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong organizational and critical thinking skills.

Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in clinical dietetics, with a preference for 3-5 years of direct clinical experience.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics is required; a Master's Degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Certifications: Must maintain current Registered Dietitian (RD) and Licensed Dietitian (LD) status.
  • Skills: Proficiency in computer applications, advanced presentation capabilities, and effective communication skills are essential.
