Position Overview: Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant plays a crucial role in managing the accounting and reconciliation processes of the general ledger, overseeing homebuilding reports, revenue recognition, cash transactions, and month-end financial statements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the month-end closing process.
  • Maintain effective accounting practices and systems in line with corporate policies.
  • Prepare and record journal entries.
  • Conduct bank account and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Support special project analyses.
  • Oversee the reconciliation of suspense account activities.
  • Record incoming wire transfers and manage returned items.
  • Ensure the accuracy of monthly backlog profitability reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of weekly reporting requirements.
  • Prepare monthly revenue entries, various month-end accruals, reclassifications, and allocation entries.
  • Utilize the ESSBASE system daily during month-end close and periodically throughout the month to track overhead expenses for accuracy, comparing them to original budgets, projections, and forecasts.
  • Run monthly fixed asset reports as necessary.
  • Prepare commission packages for review.
  • Support accounts payable functions.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • A minimum of two years of general accounting experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with JD Edwards is preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
