Position Overview
At Houston Methodist, the Senior Applications Specialist role is pivotal in delivering expert-level support and configuration for designated applications. This position involves providing assistance, training, and support to clients and junior analysts in the management and operation of systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Mentor and train junior analysts to enhance their professional development.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across all organizational levels to improve their understanding of available tools aimed at boosting operational efficiencies.
- Proactively manage and troubleshoot issues in collaboration with related IT teams while overseeing change management.
- Ensure high-level administration of applications, guaranteeing quality service delivery and application availability.
- Contribute to the successful achievement of departmental goals by ensuring that services align with the mission.
- Provide insights and recommendations concerning budget forecasts and project management.

Quality and Safety Functions
- Supervise and monitor multiple large-scale projects across various functional departments.
- Develop project plans and objectives to ensure goals are met within established parameters.
- Implement and support complex applications utilizing technical expertise in systems analysis, design, testing, and implementation.
- Communicate potential project issues, resolutions, and status updates to all stakeholders, including clients and management.
- Create tailored solutions or advanced configurations to address operational or workflow challenges.
- Coordinate problem resolution, technical analysis, cost estimates, work plans, workflow documentation, and progress reports for assigned projects.
- Apply project management methodologies to successfully execute projects within budget constraints.
- Evaluate and recommend technologies for growth and long-term strategic planning.
- Seek opportunities to lead or facilitate IT and business initiatives across the organization.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience as a licensed clinical or certified IT professional.
- A minimum of five years of experience in IT, clinical, or business workflow is required.
- Relevant certification for assigned applications (e.g., Epic) must be maintained.
- Demonstrated ability to perform assigned tasks safely, supported by ongoing skills assessments and performance evaluations.
- Proficient in English, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, family members, and colleagues, emphasizing customer service and positive language principles.
- Expert troubleshooting skills to resolve system issues and engineer effective solutions in collaboration with IT customers and vendors.
- Strong technical skills to support multiple applications and projects concurrently.
- Comprehensive knowledge of project management methodologies applicable to large-scale system implementations.

Travel Requirements
- Travel specifications may vary by department and could include travel within and outside the Houston Metropolitan area.
