Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Staff Nurse II to join our team at Washington University in St. Louis. As a Staff Nurse II, you will provide exceptional patient care and education to pediatric patients in our outpatient clinics. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, collecting and analyzing data to coordinate patient care.
  • Direct and provide patient care, including administering medication, performing procedures, and monitoring patient status in accordance with approved nursing practice.
  • Provide education and counseling to patients and families regarding disease processes and symptom management.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to adjust nursing care processes and ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrate cost-effective work habits by prioritizing tasks and managing supplies and equipment efficiently.
  • Assist healthcare providers with examinations, procedures, and other direct patient care activities.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities to ensure appropriate clinical outcomes.
Working Conditions

This role is based at St. Louis Children's Hospital, Suites 2C and 2D, with occasional travel to other clinical sites. You will work in a normal office environment, with exposure to blood-borne pathogens and the need for protective devices.

Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Current Missouri RN licensure in accordance with the Compact Act.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Advanced clinical skills, such as PALS, ACLS, and IV Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
