Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Insurance Billing/Collections Assistant II to join our team at Washington University in St. Louis. As a key member of our revenue cycle team, you will be responsible for performing follow-up insurance billing and collection activities on a minimum of 30 claims per day.

Key Responsibilities
  • Make collection calls to insurance companies and patients to ensure timely payment of claims.
  • Review remittance advises for rejection and accuracy of payment amounts.
  • Verify accuracy and completeness of charge tickets, monitor attachments for claims to obtain maximum reimbursement.
  • Contact insurance companies regarding posting payments and collection agencies regarding payment reports.
  • Respond to questions and requests from insurance companies.
  • Support customer service unit in answering billing and collection questions.
  • Act as back-up support for Accounts Receivable staff during peak times, vacations/illnesses.
  • Assist with training of co-workers.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.
  • Two to three years of related experience in bookkeeping/accounting and/or medical collection setting.
