Job Summary

Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a highly motivated Clinical Physics Assistant II to assist clinical physics faculty with non-critical routine duties and developmental efforts. The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of a faculty board-certified or non-board certified clinical physicist.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly quality assurance checks under the direction of a clinical physicist, including annual machine calibrations and/or annual simulator reviews.

Implementation of New Procedures
• Assist with the implementation of new therapeutic treatment procedures, acquiring data used for implementing new clinical physics procedures, and performing treatment planning for new procedures.

Patient Dosimetry
• Perform ion chamber, film, and TLD measurements for patient dosimetry and/or to validate treatment planning systems, including special and film dosimetry in phantom with the use of ionization chambers.

Treatment Planning Systems
• Acquire data used for commissioning treatment planning systems, plan treatment of patients as required for the purposes of comparing to measured data procedures, and perform measurements using water scanning systems and film dosimetry systems procedures.

Working Conditions

• The Clinical Physics Assistant II will work in a normal office environment, typically sitting at a desk or a table, and will have access to office equipment.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Physics.

Preferred Qualifications

• Dosimetric measurements in a clinical radiation oncology setting (1 year).

Skills

• Ability to reason, analytical thinking, data acquisition, data analytics, dosimetry, dosimetry equipment, equipment calibrations, mathematical computation, quality assurance processes, quantitative methods, software program, team collaboration, therapeutic treatment, treatment plans.
