Job Summary

Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a skilled Staff Optometrist to join our team at the Washington University Eye Center. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for evaluating and treating patients with a range of eye conditions, from refractive errors to medical diseases of the eye.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluates and treats patients, including refractive exams, contact lens fitting and dispensing, emergency exams, and evaluation and management of medical diseases of the eye.
• Discusses and interprets findings with patients, suggesting appropriate remedies and treatment options.
• Adheres to established compliance guidelines, including those governing the coding of patient services and diagnoses.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the director of ophthalmology.

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of current state and federal regulations affecting optometry practice.
• Demonstrated ability to implement standards of accuracy and judgment required for the role.

Required Qualifications

• Licensed Doctor of Optometry in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on work location.
• Basic Life Support certification, with online certifications without a skills assessment component not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements.
