About This Position

**Job Summary:**

Under the direction of the Auxiliary Services II, the team lead is responsible for delegating and executing the daily tasks of the Utility Crew, and student staff who provide services related to support of campus activities, office moves, miscellaneous special projects, etc. This position applies technical knowledge to decide where and how to allocate resources, both manpower and equipment, to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks. This position monitors the schedule, maintains equipment and tracks supply inventory. The Team Lead will also assist in the hiring and training of new employees and student staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partially responsible for the work product of employees and student staff who provide event support, moving services, operate various pieces of equipment, remove trash, and perform custodial duties, seven days per week.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers regarding event support topics, coordinate logistics, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Work along with the event support team on major events, such as: outdoor concerts, FYI week, and the Student Showcase.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of event support supplies maintained by the department.
  • Assist in the hiring process, train staff and student workers.
  • Procure goods and services for the Utility Crew, ensuring compliance with the Purchasing Department's policies and procedure.
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the Utility Crew manager including special construction or custodial projects, assist with carpentry projects, work order fulfillment, etc

Requirements:

  • A High school diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) years of related experience.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft office products, specifically MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective leadership that results in a timely delivery of services by subordinates.
  • Effective verbal/written communications skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships both within CMU, with outside agencies, and private firms.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience working in higher education or other large, complex organizations.
  • Previous experience assisting in the management of a physical plant.
  • Experience with work order software such as SchoolDude.
  • Experience with scheduling software such as 25live.
